One of the hardest, most rewarding things to find is your purpose. What were you set on this earth to do? What drives you to wake up early in the morning out of excitement and leaves you with a smile on your face at the end of the day? If you have already identified your purpose, congratulations! You have accomplished what many people will not discover in a lifetime. But now that you know your purpose, what do you do with it, and can you turn it into a profitable business? Maybe you have tried and weren’t successful and wonder if it’s even possible to build a business tied to your purpose. Well let me assure you, that no matter what your purpose, the answer is “yes, you absolutely can!” Here are a few questions to help you build out a business plan to turn your purpose into a profitable business that satisfies both your personal and monetary requirements.

1. What Do You Want to Accomplish With Your Business?

There is a reason why this is the first and most crucial question you can ask yourself when trying to build a business with purpose. You can’t know how to get there unless you know where you are going. Ask yourself these questions: What do you want? Why do you want it? When will you get it? And who will get you there? Your answers to these questions will be the starting point for building a map to your ultimate goals.

2. What Benefit Will Following Your Purpose Bring to Others?

Another way to ask this question is, how will you sharing your purpose and passion with others make them feel? Will they feel empowered? Why? WIll they feel encouraged? Why? What does knowing and pursuing your purpose do for you? If you can first think about how you feel when you think about your purpose it will help lead you to why others might get excited about it as well.

3. Who Will Get Excited About Your Purpose?

This is about identifying your niche. If you don’t yet have any customers, or haven’t fully established your business, think of yourself and what excites you. Think about the type of person you are, what hobbies you enjoy, what beliefs you hold dear, the circles you hang out in, your monetary situation, and all the many demographics that make up who you are. If you already have customers, and want more like them, apply this process to each of them individually to find trends and similarities so you can find more people like them.

4. How Can You Serve Your Customers With Your Purpose?

In order to build a thriving, successful business around your purpose you have to have something to sell. Ideally, you want to have several different buckets of biz that drive revenue. Often, entrepreneurs will have one product or service they offer. But to have a thriving, growing business you need to think of several revenue streams you can tie to your business. Think about the various ways you could share what you are passionate about with others. Could you sell a product? Teach or coach someone how to do what you love? Can you offer workshops or give people opportunities to learn a unique skill or give them information they wouldn’t otherwise know? Take some time to think about all the ways you could use your purpose to serve others. Write down all your ideas. You might not use all of them, but often initial ideas pave the way to your ultimate products and services.
