As a business owner, sometimes it’s nice to just take a step back and reflect on what you have learned. Maybe things are going great, maybe you are contemplating giving up, either way, I guarantee you that you are now more savvy, more knowledgeable, more experienced and more capable than you were years ago. I have not always succeeded, but those times taught me valuable lessons that guide the decisions I make today. The following are lessons I have learned from the ups and downs of life and business. Use this to fuel your own knowledge and inspire you to think about the lessons you yourself have learned as well.
I have learned that I am a forever student and that I still have a lot to learn!
Purpose is everything. It will drive you, fill you up, and never allow you to give up. It will see you to another day.
Relish in your successes, even the smallest of wins. They make you feel alive and instill your belief that you are meant to be right where you are.
Learn from your lessons. Often times it’s the low points that have brought me some of my best solutions and made me stronger.
Sometimes it’s necessary to blow off the afternoon and have coffee or wine with a friend, go for a run, play with the kids, or take a nap. If you’re not “feeling it” nothing will happen. You will come back stronger the next day as the best version of who you are.
If you are not laughing every day, find a way. It fuels the soul.
Surround yourself with people that believe in you even more than you believe in yourself. Better yet, who challenge you to grow bigger than you can even imagine.
Don’t let fear freeze you. Let it drive you with unbridled determination.
Seek out inspiration whether from a friend, mentor, book, workshop, or movie. Inspiration is all around you, just be open to looking for it.
Get your emotions out; they can get in the way. Laugh, cry, scream, throw a tantrum if necessary, and then laugh at yourself for doing it.
Tomorrow really is another day. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and jump back in.
When you need the time off, take it. The right people in front of you, beside you, and behind you will understand. If not, you’re not surrounding yourself with the right people.
Get moving. Sweat, pump some iron, and get that heart racing! Your health will fuel you or set you back. Take good care of yourself. Some of my best ideas and clarity came from being breathless in hot yoga.
When you have a break through, celebrate it, own it, and be proud of it. You earned it.
If people try to bring you down, remember, it’s “their stuff”. Don’t give power to the mean girls. If you are a mean girl, get the support you need to work on you instead of bringing down others.
Show up as your best. Leave your grump face at the door. If you can’t turn it around, don’t go.
Success doesn’t come from luck, but from good, old fashioned, roll up your sleeves hard work. Some of the success I have today is from what I learned and worked for years ago.
Take time to reflect on what’s possible, because anything is!
Believe in yourself every day.
Now it’s your turn, what have you learned? Your time is now and tomorrow is waiting for you. Greatness awaits, so let it out!
